Worcester DPW
Director Gives Accolades for the Restoration of
the Department of Public Works Building
Anthony Meriano,
Assistant Commissioner for the Worcester Department
of Public Works describes it as a metamorphosis.
"The transition of the building is amazing. The best
description that I can give is that it has evolved
from a caterpillar to a butterfly." Monaco
Restorations began the restoration of the large
brick structure this summer and are now finishing up
the final painting and touch-ups. During the course
of the project, Monaco workers chemically removed
the old paint to expose the brick, then proceeded to
cut out and replace 100% of the joints, repair and
replace lentels when needed, exposed and recoated
the main structural column on the corner of the
building and replaced in excess of 8000 bricks.
Mr. Meriano stated,
"It is very rewarding to hear the positive comments
about the improvement to the building from
employees, local businesses, and residents of the
street. It has significantly improved the look and
feel of the street". Mr. Meriano further commented,
"I am very pleased with the responsiveness to any
issue by the Monaco team. In my 30 years I have
never seen a smoother relationship for a job than
the one between our staff at the DPW, the engineer,
and Monaco Restorations". |
