Monaco is Awarded the
"Excellence in Historic Preservation Award" from the
Preservation League of New York State for the
cleaning of the Great Western Staircase inside of
the New York State Capitol, Albany, NY. The careful
cleaning and restoration of the largest interior
staircase in the Capitol, popularly known as the
"Million Dollar Staircase", was accomplished using a
"Peelable latex" product from Belgium called ArteMundit.
Monaco's craftsman painstakingly
took almost one year to clean the five story, hand
carved, brownstone interior staircase with virtually
no water. This priceless stone staircase was brought
to life with its first cleaning in almost 100 years.
This conservation project was closely orchestrated
by the State Capitol Architect, James Jamesom with
the assistance of Larry Wilson and Gina Gunderson of
Mesick, Cohen, Wilson and Baker, architects. |
